G & J Lines No.37a antique Edwardian dolls house manufactured circa 1915.

Owner’s comments:

This is a smaller version of 37 which according to web site “Dolls Houses Past and Present” did not appear in any Lines catalogues and consequently does not have its own number. According to dolls house author Marion Osbourne, Lines made several versions of their houses for department store Gamages and Hamleys toy shop, which never appeared in their main catalogues. Gamages  apparently favoured smaller cheaper versions. I acquired the house from the family of Margaret Downs, who had the house as a Christmas present in 1915 age 9. Most of the contents of this house came from one family who told me they were gifts from a German relative.
