‘Courtney House’ antique 1922 dolls house attributed to Handicrafts.

Owner’s comments:

It is unusual to be able to state the exact history of an antique dolls house. In this case, the house had only one previous owner. It was commissioned in 1922 for the fourth birthday of Kathleen Courtney in County Longford Southern Ireland. The body of the house is made from pieces of packing case marked CYLON PRODUCE stencilled on the base.

The house is furnished with the original twelve pieces of Handicrafts fretwork furniture. This could be purchased by post. The fretwork detail on the roof gable is also Handicrafts and is identical to that used on Handicrafts house number 235. I have not managed to identify the fretwork door and windows, however, as the furniture and roof details are definitely Handicrafts it seems probable that the door and windows are also.
