‘Green Gables’ antique dolls house manufactured circa 1920-1930.
I acquired the house from a lady who had bought it on impulse and then felt overwhelmed by the prospect of renovation. It was a mess!
I love the quirky style, especially the steep gables and beaded mouldings.
I was under pressure from certain people to keep the papers, but it was so badly done and I was sent some gorgeous vintage papers so I went ahead and redecorated, leaving the paintwork intact. It turned out that the papers weren’t original anyway as I found scraps of much older paper underneath.
I managed to source some beaded moulding to replace the missing pieces and an exact match on the paint colour. I was lucky to have some old brick paper in my stash and used the scraps left on the sides to patch the front.
