‘Miss Veronica’s Cottage’ antique Victorian dolls house manufactured circa 1900.
Owner’s comments:
I bought this house hoping to adapt it to front opening but when it arrived knew I loved it just as it was!
The house was made for Veronica’s mum when she was a little girl. Her dad made it in a hurry before he left for the Boer War. I never had the heart to ask if he returned.
When I heard the story it made me fond of the crude way it was built. I tried to preserve as much as I could. The base was missing so I sacrificed a wooden chopping board to make one.It stands on a bedroom window ledge and is seen from the garden so I made a collage of old pictures, scraps of old paper left from other houses and decoupage roses.
I like to think Veronica’s grandad would be happy to see what I did to his delightful little creation.
