Vintage Triang Princess Elizabeth’s dolls house circa 1937.
Owner’s comments:
This house, based on Princess Elizabeth’s play house in Windsor was first launched in 1935 when the princesses father became king. It was originally back opening which wasn’t popular as this meant it spent much of its time facing the wall. A front opening version was relaunched two years later in 1937. It was then relaunched for a third time in 1953 to coincide with Queen Elizabeth’s Coronation. The 30s version and the 50s version are basically the same with two subtle differences. The front roof line on the 30s version is a continuous undulant curve, whereas the 50s version has strait edges between the windows. Also the floor paper in the 30s version was herringbone wood effect and in the 50s version what was described in the catalogue as imitation linoleum.
